Small & Medium Enterprise/Bank Lending

The program’s SME development / bank lending strategies are designed to develop and implement small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) bank lending programs that lead to economic growth, provide sustainable employment opportunities for Iraqis and help the country transition from a public sector, state-led economy to a private sector-led, demand driven economy.

Implementation activities currently underway include:

Bank Lending Programs
Development and implementation of bank lending programs that use alternative methods of credit analysis in order to expand the pool of small and medium-sized business borrowers and generate sustainable, long-term jobs.

Training Programs
Establishment of training programs for key employees of partner banks in credit analysis, bank lending, financial reporting and information systems so that the banks can implement the new lending programs without further technical assistance.

MIS Development
Establishment of a sound and accurate partner bank Management Information System (MIS) that will be actively used to make decisions, motivate performance and provide accountability for funds.
